GOT QUESTIONS?

We've got Answers

Answers to the most common questions about The Sloth Institute

Are you open to the public?

NO

Our rescue and research facilities are not open to the public.  It is not in the best interest of the rehabilitating sloths to be exposed to many humans.  Strange sounds, smells and schedules are stressful to wild animals like sloths.  While we are not open to the public, we do recommend if you are interested in learning more about our program and seeing wild sloths in an ethical way, to look into our “Sloth Walk” at Tulemar.

What is the Sloth Walk?

The TSI sloth walk, is a guided nature walk around Tulemar gardens with one of our sloth experts.  During the walk our guide will teach you how to spot sloths in the wild and also about all the other amazing wildlife species that are found in Manuel Antonio.  You will learn about the history and work of TSI as well as how to be a responsible sloth tourist.  Because the walks are conducted on private property, Tulemar gardens, access to the walks is limited to guests staying at Tulemar.

Where are you located?

Our headquarters are located inside of Tulemar Gardens in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica.

Can I volunteer?

We accept longterm volunteers on a rolling admission basis.  Please visit our volunteer page to learn more about how to apply.

What if I find an injured sloth?

If you are located in or near Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and you find an injured or orphaned sloth, call our rescue hotline: +506-8775-6847 and we will get the sloth ASAP.  If you are located elsewhere, please call your local wildlife rescue but we can also try to advise you as possible.
