Jenna Heinze

Veterinary Technician
Email:

Jenna's Biography

Jenna grew up outside of Philadelphia and has had a lifelong love of wildlife and nature. She became a certified vet tech in 2003 and has worked as a vet tech at the Philadelphia Zoo since 2007 after spending a few years at the University of Pennsylvania School of Vet Med in the anesthesia department. Jenna joined TSI in 2017 coming down for a month to help in the lab, taking care of the sloths in their care and helping to advance the veterinary skills of the staff. After that month she knew she would be connected to this amazing group for years to come. She has made a few trips back to continue to help out on the ground. From home she is still busy keeping up records, acquiring donated supplies and consulting on medical cases. She has taken all the learned knowledge and applied it to the care of the sloths at Philadelphia Zoo to ensure they have everything they need and are happy and healthy.

Why I love sloths

I am drawn to sloths because of their incredibly bizarre anatomy and physiology and have been fascinated by all I have learned about them from my time with TSI.
