Update on Wilbur!

August 28, 2018

Here’s the latest on Wilbur, an adult 3-fingered sloth we have been tracking since 2016. Funny fact: He is known to the TSI staff for having the best haircut. It looks like he has a monk bowl haircut, which has earned him the nickname “Friar Wilbur”.

Wilbur is hard to find and hangs out in hard-to-access areas, so it is not easy to find him when time comes to change out the batteries in his tracking collar. Once, it took the team FOUR MONTHS. Luckily, we only need to do this once a year!

We try to find him when he comes down the tree for his weekly poop schedule. But wise Wilbur is really good about coming down when we aren’t looking (well, who likes to be watched while pooping?)

We recently spotted him high up in the trees, hanging out with a squirrel monkey.

Here’s a short video of Wilbur. Can you see his monk bowl haircut?
